Thai Cottage, Berkhamsted

Sometimes it's nice to let someone else do the cooking and cleaning up for Sunday lunch. We had agreed that on Saturday evening and decided to book a table at Thai Cottage in Berkhamsted for the following day. This has long been a favourite restaurant and around fifteen years ago we were much more regular visitors there than we have been more recently. We booked for 1:30pm and arrived on time. There were two other tables in use but otherwise it was very quiet. The waitress told us that the evening was fully booked and it would be very busy, so we had chosen well. We each selected a soup. Both chicken. One Tom Kha Gai, with coconut milk, and the other a Tom Yum Gai which replaces the milk with chilli and Kaffir lime leaves. Both delicious. Then one chicken Pad Thai, with rice noodles, beansprouts and crushed peanuts, and one beef Kao Pad Graprow with chilli and basil leaves and served with plain rice. Again, both delicious.
